Good graphic on how slow the year has been for the market

So far this year the US stock market has been in a historically tight range. The S&P 500 has not moved more than 4% in either direction from where we began January. This is the least amount of movement since 1950. The attached chart puts this in great visual perspective. Not only does it show how calm this year has been compared to others, but it also demonstrates one other important fact. While gains have been impressive over the last 35 years, there were challenging times almost every year.
